恭喜我們的候任外務總編輯鄧思驄的攝影作品入圍 DCFever.com 的 「原色‧印象」攝影比賽2012，看看他賽後感想及其入圍作品吧。
「很榮幸我的參賽相片能被評審為入圍作品。
其實這張相片是我數年前剛接觸攝影時的作品，當時對攝影一無所知，祇是憑感覺按下快門。
攝影的最大樂趣並不是盲目追求完美的作品，而是享受攝影的過程。其實人生也一樣。很想在這裡感謝支持我的家人和朋友，往後我會繼續努力，希望能拍下更精彩的作品。」

明報在八月十七日介紹了我校的心理學課程，有幸我們的總編輯黎欣珩及副總編輯司徒素雪亦在訪問之列。她倆解說 Psycholic 由來之餘，還談到創作這份心理學月刊的得著與對將來發展的期望。
The newspaper, MingPao, introduced our program BSc (Hons) Psychology on 17th August 2012. It has been our greatest pleasure that MingPao has interviewed our Chief Editor, Venus Lai and Deputy Chief Editor, Stephanie Szeto. The two heads of Psycholic talked about the origin of this psychology newsletter, the gains of publishing it and their anticipation towards its future development.

香港的心理學盛會
今年六月，香港心理學會的週年會議假香港城市大學舉行。本刊成員對於副總編輯司徒素雪 (Stephanie) 以及創作編輯蕭子鋒 (Sora)
的研究海報能夠在今次會議中展出深感高興。有關會議的精彩內容，請留意內文。
今年會議的主題為「香港的心理學發展：過住、現況及將來」，由香港大學心理學系教授
Geoffrey Blowers 揭開序幕。 Prof Blowers與主持人詳談香港發展心理學時所面對的困難及將來的可能性，對於想繼續進修心理學的同學極具啟發性。
於海報展覽期間，展出者須要就他們的研究項目向評判作簡介，並解答現場人士及學者的疑問，以作學術交流。 Stephanie 及 Sora 都認為這次經歷令他們眼界大開，非常難得，他們也把握了機會，積極與場內的學者及學生互相交流。
緊接著海報展覽的，是分科交流研討會，四個不同主題分別為科技、小數族裔、人格及正向心理學，探討不同範疇的心理學研究，以鼓勵分科之間的知識交流。Stephanie 及 Sora 選擇了參與正向心理學為主題的研討會，因他們對當中探討的其中一項研究－「開心的人比不開心的人更寬宏大量」感到興趣。
會議最後一個環節是領袖峰會，最令人驚喜的是這個環節的互動性及參加者主導性，參加者須要寫出一些有助香港心理學發展的意見及建議，並且互相評分，得分較高的會加以討論。 Stephanie 及 Sora 認為今次會議令他們獲益良多，希望大家的共同理念能有助推動香港的心理學發展。

A
Psychological Journey: HKPS Annual Conference 2012
The
Hong Kong Psychological Society Annual Conference 2012 has taken place at the
City University of Hong Kong in June. We were so glad that the research posters
of our Deputy Chief Editor, Stephanie Szeto, and Creative Editor, Sora Siu, were
chosen to exhibit in the conference. Let us share the wonderful day with you.
The
conference was started with an interview called “A dialogue with Professor
Geoffrey Blowers - The Development of Psychology in Hong Kong: Past, Present,
and Future”. Prof Blowers, Department of Psychology at HKU, discussed about the
difficulties and future possibilities for the development of Psychology in Hong
Kong. It was an excellent enlightenment for students like us who want to pursue
further study in the field of Psychology.
During
the poster presentation session, the researchers presented their studies to judge
panel and answered scholars’ questions. Stephanie and Sora said
that it was a great opportunity to widen their horizon by getting in touch with
other psychology students and scholars.
Following
the poster session, four cross-divisional symposia on the topics of
Technology, Minority Groups, Personality and Positive Psychology were arranged
for inter-discipline knowledge exchange. Stephanie and Sora chose to attend the
symposium of Positive Psychology because of the interesting topic “To forgive
or not to forgive: The mediating effect of subjective happiness and forgiveness.
The
last session was Leaders’ Forum. It was the most surprising part of the
conference in terms of the interaction between moderator and participants.
Participants were required to brainstorm opinions and suggestions to boost the
development of Psychology in Hong Kong. The ideas were exchanged and rated by
each other. Stephanie and Sora hope that the collective ideas would be beneficial for developing Psychology in Hong Kong.

We are glad to announce that Sora Siu, our Creative Editor, has been employed by the Department of Health, the Government of HKSAR as a Summer Intern for involving in mental health research and assisting in mental health education.
本刊非常高興地宣佈，我們的創作編輯—蕭子鋒，已獲香港政府衛生署聘請為今屆的暑期實習生。他將會參與精神健康有關的研究，以及協助制作精神健康教材。

OUHK LiPACE 20th Anniversary Banquet
It has been our honour to join the 20th aniversary banquet of the LiPACE held on 15th Jun! Started with photo taking, the banquet began with cheers and big smiles. The musical performances, fashion show and prize presentation are all adorable. The most exciting part is probably the lucky draw, which is the only moment when the hall becomes silent as everybody was waiting the lucky ones to be called. We love the flowers, the dishes, and also the souvenir, which is an 8GB USB! Moreover, each of us received a voucher for the table prize. It was such an amazing night, and we enjoyed it a lot. If you have missed such a wonderful night, you may share our memories with the photos below.

Psycholic, an independent monthly newsletter, is published by a group of enthusiastic young people studying BSc (Hons) Psychology, which is a course collaborated by University of Salford and LiPACE. It has been my great honour and a precious experience working with Venus, Sora, Kristen, Jason, Woody, Anthony, Vicky and Warren to pursue our mutual goals of promoting fascinating psychology knowledge and heightening its practical use in everyday life. Since its debut in November 2011, Psycholic has extended its network to Facebook, email and blog to reach people from all walks of life. A total of 14 columns are dedicated to thrill our readers through various aspects of psychology:

- Defense Mechanisms - by Venus Lai, Chief Editor. The column tells the rules of defense originated from Freud, and how people protect their self-esteem through them.
- LOL – by Venus Lai, Chief Editor and Stephanie Szeto, Deputy Chief Editor. An interactive game platform between readers and the editor.
- I love therefore I am – by Stephanie Szeto, Deputy Chief Editor. Borrowed from the famous quote of Freud, the column aims to explore one of the basic human drives - affiliation.
- 1 min Psychology - by Stephanie Szeto, Deputy Chief Editor. A quick note of interesting psychology findings and news in just a few sentences.
- Psycovery – by Sora Siu, Creative Editor. It covers the most updated and intriguing psychological discoveries.
- Psych-Action - by Sora Siu, Senior Editor. A news centre for psychology-related events, and our official organizer for psychology activities.
- PsyPanacea – by Kristen Pereira, Senior Editor. A one-stop-shop to fix all psychological problems.
- Pickpocket – by Jason Lam, Senior Editor. Pickpocket allows you to see right through people by stealing their thoughts and uncovering their deep secrets.
- Sunshine is always with you – by Woody Yip, Senior Editor. A positive column that shows people how to think and act from the sunny side.
- Paradox – by Anthony Chan, Senior Editor. The column aims to solve the paradox of some seemingly abnormal human thoughts and behaviours.
- Pillars in the Making – by Vicky Wong, Senior Editors. Taking a developmental approach, this column probes into the challenges our future masters are facing.
- Andrien Photography – by Warren Adrien Tang, Senior Editor. 'Eyes are the window of our soul', Warren invites you to see the world through his lens.

I Say Love, It Is Forever
Congratulations to our senior editor Warren Adrien Tang again! Other than the Love Letter Competition mentioned last issue, he also won another prize in Club Canon’s “Light You Up, My Love” competition. By being a laureate of the Distinction prize, he shows us his multiple intelligences in writing and photography. We look forward to seeing his blooming seeds! Here comes the winning piece:

三月十二日，親愛的 Dr Tang 親自率領 SOPC 一眾同學前往香港科學館參觀。參觀過程中 Dr. Tang 還安排了一位知識豐富的導賞員介紹館內展品，起初各隊員都專心聆聽導賞員的仔細講解，但後來這群「猴子」都被其他有趣的展品吸引著，看來他們還是比較喜歡自由探索。

Passion Never Dies - Congrats to Warren Adrien Tang and Sora Siu
We are so glad that the two genius, Warren Adrien Tang and Sora Siu, joined our editorial group. They won the Love Letter Competition and BPS-approved textbook on forensic psychology respectively. For details, please see the following paragraphs.
Congrats Warren Adrien Tang, our Senior Editor, for winning the Best Love Letter in the Love Letter Competition which held by our Institute on the Valentine’s Day. Besides shooting breath-taking photos, Warren can write excellent articles too. Here is his wholehearted love letter, enjoy reading.
Dear the lovely lady, who I love,
For almost a week I have sat in front of the computer trying to compress this into a 500 words letter, but not even a million words would be adequate to express my feeling towards you. Please forgive my simple wordings if they don’t seem to be as expressive because to me, love is never about how many times you can say “I Love You”, but how much you can prove that it’s true.
People tend to say when you read over the same message for the tenth time, when your heart and thoughts somehow appear to rhyme, and when a simple name conquers your whole mind, then you are in what they call Love.
When I match my feelings with the statements above, there is no doubt that I am in fact in love with you. People always say age, looks, height and shoe size does not matter; the only thing that matters is how you feel towards each other. However, at some point, I have to realize that I’m the person who can only stay in your heart but never in your life. It may sound a bit upsetting but I have never felt or thought that way. As I always bear in mind the question: What is the most important thing I can do for you? Is it to be with you or wanting you to be happy? , I’m sure if you truly love a person, you know the answer right away.
Yes I do admit that God might not have put me in the perfect position as a well-equipped lover in this practical world at this moment but surely he did put me in the perfect time and place to have met you and fallen in love with you.
Through loving you, has made me not only learn to appreciate than to expect but also learn to love unconditionally and patiently from a distance. Distance teaches me to appreciate the time that we are able to spend together. It is also a reminder for me that every moment together is special and every second together should be cherished.
If the world was to end today, I just wanted you to know that I’m glad I have met an angel like you in my life, Truly, your smile have turned ordinary moments into magical ones, it has always inspired and motivated me to strive to be a better person. I couldn’t ask for more since God has given me the best and I’m really thankful deep down from my heart. You may not notice me in any sense, but regardless whether I’m a lover, a soul mate or a good friend, it doesn’t change my love and care for you. If ever you are in need, I will still go beyond extraordinary length to help out, whenever and whatever. And as we grow older together, as we continue to change with age, there is only one thing that will never change…I will always keep falling in love with you till death do us apart.

SOPC Activity - Dec 2011
適逢青山醫院之金禧紀念開放日， SOPC 亦於2011年11月5日舉辦其第一次的活動 ─ 參觀青山醫院。開放日的節目豐富，包括導遊參觀、攤位遊戲、表演活動、健康教育講座等，令同學們大開眼界、獲益良多。
